We are now entering the fall season and another season that is upon us is football season, Lot's of kids will be suiting up for the first time or continuing their playing career.
It will be a lot of hard work and exercise, and in most cases the weather will still be very hot. But if they are like most kids on the tea fun and they want to play. It's important for the players to stay hydrated and healthy. Another consideration is getting and staying in shape.
Despite all precaution and physical preparation, injuries frequently occur. If you or your football player is injured think RICE: rest, ice, compression and elevation.
An injury usually means there are broken blood vessels beneath the skin, which means swelling. With a sprained ankle, for instance, after ice has helped (24 to 48 hours), gently massage the ankle and rotate the joint until its range of motion is equal to the other ankle.
Resume exercise slowly avoiding sports such as basketball or racquetball that involve sudden twisting movements. to re-injure the hurt.
If you experience pain it is nature's natural warning signal that a part of the body has been injured and we should cease doing anything that aggravates the injury. Then give the part complete rest for faster recovery.
It's very important to drink plenty of water before, during and after exercising. Carbonated beverages are not a recommended replacement for water. Though it's not proven, phosphoric acid in some soft drinks may result in calcium reduction from the bones, contributing to bone loss.
Nutritionally a good rule of thumb is to never eat or drink anything that has been chemically altered from its natural state. We enjoy the taste and burst of energy from popular drinks and they can almost be addicting but nothing beats good old-fashioned water.
And lastly, but certainly not the least important, is the care of the frame of the body, especially the spine which houses protects the spinal cord and the spinal nerves. When the frame of the body has been jarred or jolted out of its normal alignment, it is somewhat like distorting the frame of an automobile. Both the human and the car may still function, but not without some serious side effects.
For maximum efficiency of the body and for the greatest amount of fun and pleasure. all sports participants should have regular chiropractic tune-ups.
We would love to work with you and your athlete with any information

CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAVES MONEY
These days everyone is looking for ways to save money. From heads of government agencies and businesses to the mom sitting at the kitchen table going over the family budget. All of us are looking for those extra dollars to help cover our expenses.
Chiropractic care is a proven way to save money on health care costs. Over the last decade there have been many studies completed about the affects on costs of using Chiropractic care. These studies showed that removal of chiropractic care from health plans would actually increase the cost of care.
One such study reviewed the health care utilization of 1.7 million people enrolled in a California man aged-care plan. In this group approximately 1 million people had chiropractic coverage and 7000,000 did not have any chiropractic coverage. The result showed that total health care costs for people in the plans with chiropractic coverage was 12 % lower than those without chiropractic coverage. Additionally, all health plan members who were treated for musculoskeletal conditions, total health care costs were 13% lower among those with chiropractic coverage compared to those without. The cost of treating people with low back was 28% lower in the group with chiropractic coverage.
According to the Journal Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics chiropractic care is a cost- effective treatment for lower back pain. "Chiropractic care appeared relatively cost-effective for the treatment of chronic low-back pain. Chiropractic and medical care performed comparably for acute patients. Practice-based clinical outcomes were consistent with systematic reviews of spinal manipulative efficacy: manipulation-based therapy is at least as good as and, in some cases, better than other therapeusis."

THE VOTE IS IN FOR CHIROPRACTIC CARE!
A study last year conducted by the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Center surveyed more than 14,000 people who suffered from lower back pain.
More than half of those surveyed reported that the pain severely limited their daily routine for a week or longer, and 88 percent said it recurred through the year. The complained that the pain interfered with sleep, sex and maintaining healthy weight.
Hands-on therapies including chiropractic care were among the top-rated treatments reported by the respondents of the survey.
They are confirming what we have been saying for many years. Chiropractic care is the best first choice for treatment of common back pain. Not only is it a natural choice it is a less intrusive choice.

OCTOBER IS NATIONAL CHIROPRACTIC HEALTH MONTH!
National Chiropractic Health Month, sponsored by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), is a nationwide observance held each October. This year's theme- "Why Weight? Get Healthy!" and activities will focus on how doctors of chiropractic can play an important role in preventing and treating obesity.
More than 60 percent of adults in the United States are either overweight or obese, according to CDC statistics, and obesity is associated with an increased risk of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and some types of cancer. However, many people don't know that even modest weight loss, such as 5 to 10 percent of a person's total body weight, could improve blood pressure as well as blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels. That's only 10 t0 20 pounds for a person who weighs 200 pounds.
Yet losing weight can be a struggle, and many people wonder where to begin. The answer for some may be in the office of a doctor of chiropractic (DC). Consultation with a DC is particularly important when you consider that the effects of obesity on the musculoskeletal system osteoarthritis, back pain, neck pain and joint pain often cause overweight and obese people to avoid physical activity and exercise when they need it most. DCs also counsel their patients on good nutrition and offer dietary and lifestyle advice in addition to expert structural care.
"If you're carrying more weight than the load-bearing structures of your body spine, legs, etc. can handle, there's going to be pain, loss of movement and degeneration in the joints," explains James Powell, DC, a member of ACA's Wellness Committee. "Particularly if you're carrying most of your abdomen, the low back and the spine will need to work harder to hold you upright. This adds extra stress and tension on your muscles, which in turn creates stiffness."
Each year in October, ACA and it's members raise public awareness of chiropractic care by observing National Chiropractic Month. Starting this year, the association will celebrate National Chiropractic Health Month in an effort to promote a broader understanding of chiropractic's approach to patient care as natural, whole-body, patient centered health care."
National Chiropractic Health Month is an important opportunity to educate the public on the general health benefits of chiropractic care which include so much more than simply the expert hands-on care that DCs are so well known for," said ACA President Rick McMichael, DC. "Doctors of Chiropractic focus on changing patients' habits postural, physical activity, nutritional, etc. to promote health and wellness, short-term and long-term. Patients are tired of quick fixes that don't produce lasting weight loss and better health, and they are always delighted to discover how doctors of chiropractic promote total health and wellness over a lifetime."
